Phone trade-in · Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon

Trade in your old phone for cash or store credit

iPhone 11 and newer, Google Pixel 6 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer. Tell us about it here, then bring it to our Kelowna, Penticton or Vernon store and a technician checks it in person.

Takes about two minutes. No account needed.

Cash or store credit

Grade A and B phones: your choice. Store credit can go toward any repair, accessories or a refurbished device.

Checked in person, settled the same visit

A technician grades your phone at the counter and gives you a firm number on the spot. No mailing it away and waiting.

Your data wiped before it goes anywhere

Every phone we accept is erased by our technician. Back up first; we handle the rest.

A phone sitting in a drawer loses value every month. Trade it in while it still has some.

How it works

Start here, finish at the counter. The form gives our technician what they need to grade your phone quickly when you arrive.

1

Tell us about your phone

Brand, model, storage, condition and battery health. The form takes about two minutes.

2

Add two photos

Front and back, in good light. Our technician knows what’s coming in before you arrive.

3

Bring it in, or call

Choose your nearest store. We only grade phones in person, so the offer you hear is the real one.

4

Leave with cash or credit

Once it passes inspection, you’re paid the same visit.

What we accept

Every phone is graded in store, and condition decides the offer.

Apple

iPhone 11 and newer

Including iPhone SE (2nd generation, 2020) and iPhone SE (3rd generation, 2022).

Google

Pixel 6 and newer

Including the a-series: Pixel 6a, 7a and 8a.

Samsung

Galaxy S20 and newer

S series, including Plus, Ultra and FE models.

Older phones and other devices can still be dropped off for electronics recycling.

How we grade

Four tiers. The technician checks the screen, body, battery and function, then tells you which one your phone lands in.

Grade A

Like new

No visible scratches, scuffs or dents. Everything works. Battery health 85% or higher.

Cash or store credit. Our best offer.

Grade B

Good

Light wear: fine scratches, light scuffs on the bezel. Screen free of dead pixels and burn-in. Battery health 80 to 84%.

Cash or store credit.

Grade C

Fair

Noticeable wear: deep scratches, heavy scuffs, small chips or dents, but no shattered glass. Powers on, touch and display respond. Battery under 80% or showing a service warning.

Store credit only.

Not accepted

No trade-in value

Shattered front or back glass, bent frame, liquid damage, missing parts. Activation locked (iCloud or Google), blacklisted, reported lost or stolen, or fails our diagnostics.

We’ll quote a repair instead.

All phones must be unlocked to any carrier, with Find My or your Google account signed out.

Before you bring it in

  • iPhone 14 and newer: bring proof of purchase. The invoice from your carrier or retailer (Telus, Bell, Best Buy and so on) is fine. Without it we can’t assess the phone.
  • Sign out of Find My or your Google account and remove the screen lock. Not sure how? We’ll walk you through it at the counter.
  • Back up anything you want to keep. The phone is erased once we accept it.
  • Unlocked to any carrier. If you’re not sure, bring it anyway and we’ll check.
  • Take out your SIM card before you hand the phone over.

Why we ask for proof of purchase

Most newer phones are financed through a carrier plan. If the plan goes unpaid after the phone is sold on, the carrier blacklists the IMEI and the phone stops working on any network, sometimes weeks later. The same thing happens when a phone is reported lost or stolen.

We’ve had it happen to a phone we resold, so for iPhone 14 and newer we ask to see the original invoice before we look at the device.

Start your trade-in

Four short steps. Have the phone with you for the battery health and the photos. When you’re done, you’ll get the address and hours of your store.

We only use these details to assess your trade-in and to contact you about it. Photos and the IMEI are deleted after 90 days.

Questions people ask

Values move with the used-phone market and depend on the exact model, storage and grade. A number posted today is wrong next month. Once a technician has checked your phone you get a firm offer. If you’d like a rough idea before coming in, call the store.

No. We grade in person so the offer you hear is final. Bring it to whichever store is closest.

Phones older than iPhone 11, Pixel 6 or Galaxy S20 don’t hold enough value to trade, but we’ll still take them for electronics recycling. Not sure which model you have? Send the form anyway and we’ll tell you.

The trade-in program covers phones for now. Ask in store about other devices.

If the glass is shattered we can’t take it as a trade-in, but we’ll quote the repair. Deep scratches without a crack usually land in Grade C, which pays in store credit.

Once we accept the phone, a technician erases it completely. Back up anything you need before you come in, and sign out of Find My or your Google account so the erase can go through.

Yes. Store credit works on any repair, accessories or refurbished device at Repair Express, and it’s the only payout for Grade C phones. Store credit is non-transferable and has no cash value.

IMEI blacklisting. A phone still on a carrier plan can be blacklisted if the plan isn’t paid, which makes it useless to the next owner. The invoice shows the phone is yours to sell.
